Terms of Service
Last updated August 2026
These plain-English terms cover your use of SmartLord. By using the service you agree to them.
What SmartLord is
SmartLord is an operational tool for managing lettings admin — properties, rent, expenses, compliance and reporting. It is not legal, tax or financial advice, and it does not replace your accountant or solicitor. You remain responsible for meeting your own legal and tax obligations.
Your account and your data
You are responsible for keeping your login secure and for the accuracy of the data you enter. You must have a lawful basis to hold any tenant or third-party personal data you put into SmartLord. Your data is yours — we don't claim ownership of it, and you can export it to CSV at any time.
Subscriptions and billing
SmartLord is offered on flat monthly or annual plans, banded by portfolio size. New workspaces start with a 14-day free trial with no card required. After the trial you choose a plan; payment is taken securely through Stripe. Prices exclude VAT. Annual billing is charged yearly (two months free versus monthly). You can cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the period you've paid for; if you don't subscribe after the trial, your workspace pauses but your data is retained and returns when you pick a plan.
Acceptable use
Please don't misuse the service — no attempting to breach its security or access other workspaces, no unlawful use, and no reselling access without our agreement.
Availability and liability
We work hard to keep SmartLord available and correct, but it is provided "as is" and we can't guarantee it will be error-free or uninterrupted. To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to the fees you've paid in the previous 12 months, and we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. We may update them as the product develops and will post the date of the latest version at the top. Questions? Email isaac@corn.blue.
